ZW Automation Digital Twin featured in “Technical Innovations” (10/2025)

In the latest issue of Napędy i Sterowanie, within the Technical Innovations section, we presented our approach to building digital twins for industrial installations – both in print and online. Virtual process modeling enables testing and validating automation systems before they physically exist, unlocking new capabilities for modern industry.

A digital twin is transforming the way automation systems are engineered, commissioned, and optimized. By simulating the behavior of an installation in a virtual environment, operators and engineers can test logic, validate control strategies, and analyze system responses under real-world conditions — all before the plant enters operation. This translates into higher safety, greater operational reliability, and enhanced decision-making for industrial facilities.

At ZW Automation, we deliver such solutions based on platforms including Siemens SIMIT — enabling failure simulation, virtual commissioning, operator training, and system calibration in a risk-free environment. The virtual model becomes a working tool for automation engineers, designers, and future operators.

Why implement a Digital Twin in your facility?

🔹 Early testing & virtual commissioning – Validate control logic, parameters, and system behavior before physical startup.
🔹 Failure and emergency scenario simulation – Prepare teams for unexpected situations and improve safety procedures.
🔹 Faster startup & reduced downtime risk – Virtual testing reduces unplanned issues during commissioning and modernization.
🔹 Improved operator & maintenance training – Train personnel safely on a realistic virtual model before working on live equipment.
🔹 Optimization & competitive edge – Digital Twin technology enables scenario testing, data-driven improvements, and informed planning in uncertain environments.

Additionally, integration with IoT, AI, and advanced analytics expands digital twin capabilities — turning the model into an active tool for continuous improvement and predictive performance.

This approach is particularly valuable for process industries such as sugar processing, food and beverage, water treatment, energy, chemical and petrochemical facilities. Our experience shows that digital twins also support modernization projects, concept verification, and technical training for industrial teams and research institutions.

If you are planning a modernization or a new installation, let’s discuss how a digital twin can support your engineering and operational goals.
