ZW Automation Dwójka Świerklany on the podium
The volleyball team we support has concluded a highly dynamic season of the Atlas Tours Amateur Volleyball League on a well-deserved third place. Although the past months brought injuries, tough matches with a depleted roster, and unexpected player transfers to higher leagues, the team showed incredible character and secured their podium finish in the grand finale.
ZW Automation Dwójka Świerklany and a season full of changes
The beginning of the tournament was excellent, with the team winning consecutive matches. However, challenges quickly emerged regarding the integration of new faces, and the players’ great form attracted the attention of higher-league clubs. Primary setter Sebastian Matula signed a contract with the first-league BBTS Bielsko-Biała (celebrating a first-league vice-championship in May), while outside hitter Maurycy Koćwin transferred to a second-league team in Czechowice-Dziedzice. The second half of the season was marked by injuries and fighting for points with only a 7-player match roster, which resulted in a 5th-place finish after the regular season.
Play-off phase: ZW Automation Dwójka Świerklany battling the favorites
The real excitement began in the play-offs. The team faced the higher-seeded AKS Rybnik, a rival they had previously lost to twice. This time, our representatives gathered their strongest lineup, convincingly winning the matches 3-1 and 3-0 to advance to the semifinals. There, they faced the undefeated league leaders, Leśna Perła. Although the first match ended in a loss, the team pulled off a massive upset in the home rematch, winning 3-1 and breaking the opponents’ winning streak. Ultimately, the advancement was decided in a highly contested third match in Rybnik.
As the band leader, Mateusz Świstak, reports:
“The past season was a true rollercoaster for us. From great victories and our guys transferring to higher leagues, through injuries and playing with no substitutes, to an incredible fight in the play-offs where we took points from the undefeated leader. Although a slight sense of what-if remained after the match in Rybnik, we headed to the final tournament in Katowice in high spirits and, playing with pure imagination, we secured this podium!“
Summary and future plans
As a company, we are proud to support the ZW Automation Dwójka Świerklany team for another consecutive year. Seeing our corporate logo on the jerseys of such determined and cohesive players brings us great joy. The season concluded with a team gathering to summarize the results and declare their commitment to future games. While some players are shifting their personal and professional focus, the team is already looking ahead to new challenges. We are also keeping our fingers crossed for another year full of success!
