Integrated process automation systems at the heart of modern energy – a report from PowerConnect 2026
Behind us are three intensive days at PowerConnect 2026 in Gdańsk, which gave us the opportunity to demonstrate how the theory of modern industry transforms into working practice. Together with Honeywell, we showcased solutions that not only automate critical infrastructure, ensuring its safety and efficiency.
Together with Honeywell, we support the Oil&Gas sector
The event at Gdańsk’s AMBEREXPO became a space for us and our Partner, Honeywell, to engage in substantive discussions about how integrated process automation systems support the transformation of Poland’s energy sector. For three days, our experts – Krzysztof Walczak, Sebastian Rakoczy and Jarosław Szafran – together with Honeywell’s representatives: Artur Zabielski, Rafał Koczorowski and Andrzej Jankowski, answered questions about the future of fuel and gas logistics.
“In automation, it’s not just about delivering equipment. Our role is to ‘bring technology to life’ in a specific, operational plant. At PowerConnect, we demonstrated how to effectively integrate the world of Honeywell’s advanced instrumentation with the logistics process we have developed, paying attention to every detail of the implementation” – emphasises Krzysztof Walczak, Process Automation Manager at ZW Automation.
Innovations in Safety: Integrated Process Automation Systems
As an engineering company from Wrocław that has rapidly established itself as an expert in the Oil&Gas sector, we believe in craftsman-level precision combined with a vision for modernity. During the trade fair, we devoted particular attention to the Terminal Automation System (TAS) based on the Honeywell Terminal Manager solution. This is the global standard in managing the receipt, loading and dispatch of fuels and gas (including LNG) as well as chemical products, which we implement under a Design & Build model.
Why does our approach make a difference?
- Working on a “live system”: We carry out inventory assessments and rewiring of electrical and instrumentation & control (I&C) installations without interrupting terminal operations.
- Process continuity: Through offline testing and advanced simulations, we eliminate errors before the system goes live in the actual process.
- Full transparency: The systems we create provide real-time visibility of product location and destination.
- Metering accuracy and safety: Through integration of Fusion4 MSC-L flow computers, we ensure the highest metering accuracy in road, rail and marine transport, guaranteeing safety in explosion-hazardous zones.
- Inventory optimisation: Automated collection of stock level data and quality parameters reduces losses and human error.
“We combine the power of Honeywell’s global solutions with the mobility and technical expertise of our engineers. This allows us to offer our clients world-class technology with local, direct support” – summarises Jarosław Szafran, Chief Operating Officer.
Ambition Backed by Facts: PowerConnect Award
During the event, awards were presented in the PowerConnect Award competition. With full confidence, we submitted our candidacy in the Energy Sector Solutions Leader category, presenting the comprehensive expansion of supervisory control and automation systems for the LNG Terminal in Świnoujście (PORR S.A., GAZ-SYSTEM S.A.), completed in 2023–24. Although we did not reach the podium, we are confident that the integrated process automation systems we offer represent the top tier in Poland. We are ready to stand shoulder to shoulder with the best, supporting industry leaders such as GAZ-SYSTEM S.A., Energa S.A. and Grupa PGE S.A. on their path towards modern energy.
“The LNG Terminal project, encompassing the ESCS, IFSMS and F&G systems, is proof that Polish engineering companies can compete effectively even with global players. We deployed the IEC 61850 standard and proprietary communication cabinets, creating a digital ecosystem of the highest reliability” – comments Sebastian Rakoczy, Chief Technical Officer.
This project is not only about technology – it is above all about its impact on Poland’s energy security and the implementation of a sustainable development strategy (ESG). The application of the Siemens SAFETY matrix and ATEX-certified systems drastically minimises the risk of failure, protecting people and the environment.
We thank everyone who visited our stand and shared a coffee with us.
We invite you to get in touch if you want to transform your terminal into an intelligent logistics hub!
