Defence Industry Automation – ZW Automation’s Report from Road to URC
On April 26–27, 2026, Rzeszów was a stop on the road to Ukraine’s reconstruction, filled with international dialogue on a shared future and defence. The ZW Automation team, at the special invitation of Dozamel Sp. z o.o., appeared at Rzeszów University of Technology as part of the “Road to Ukraine Recovery Conference – Security and Defence Dimension” event to showcase the potential of Wrocław’s engineering expertise. For us, this is not only a prestigious business event with the participation of the heads of government of Poland and Ukraine – Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko – but above all a mission to build a stable security architecture in the region.
Advanced technology for security at the heart of WPP
Our presence in Rzeszów is the result of close collaboration with Dozamel, the entity managing the facility where we develop our solutions on a daily basis. Together with Fortaco, we represent Wrocław Industrial Park, demonstrating that Polish security technology is ready for the most demanding challenges.
Together with our partners, under the patronage of the Industrial Development Agency S.A., we created a space in the EXPO zone that became a meeting point for representatives of government, business, and G7 nations. Our stand served as a platform for discussions on the application of innovation in enterprises and in the process of Ukraine’s reconstruction.
“Participation in Road to URC is for us an opportunity to move conversations about the future onto the ground of concrete support solutions for, among others, critical infrastructure, but not limited to that” – emphasises Jarosław Szafran, Chief Operating Officer.
During numerous panel discussions and meetings, we had the opportunity to exchange experience with market leaders and representatives of public administration.
Production potential: from specialist vehicle bodyworks to anti-drone systems
The event in Rzeszów allowed us to take a close look at companies manufacturing bodyworks for specialist vehicles, military tankers, and armoured vehicles. This is high-volume production, based on hundreds of processes – from press brakes and milling machines to advanced welding stations. This is precisely where defence industry automation finds its broadest application, optimising production on heavy-duty chassis from renowned manufacturers.
We were impressed by the dynamism of Ukrainian companies in the plastics manufacturing, aviation, and unmanned systems sectors. Solutions such as aerial detection radars, jamming systems, and advanced operational drones are being developed there at remarkable speed, free from technological barriers.
“We were surprised by how efficiently Ukrainian companies implement new projects. Their drones and radar systems are world-class products, developed at a pace that commands respect and motivates technological collaboration” – notes Andrii Mandro, Head of Assembly Department.
Next stop: Gdańsk and Ukraine Recovery Conference 2026
The Rzeszów conference is merely a prelude to the culminating event – Ukraine Recovery Conference 2026 (URC 2026), to be held on June 25–26 at AMBEREXPO in Gdańsk. The event focuses on sectors that form the foundation of a modern state: the defence industry, dual-use technologies, and logistics. We expect an even stronger representation of heavy industry and global players from the construction and infrastructure sectors.
For ZW Automation, the June summit will hold special significance. We look forward to meetings with leaders in arms manufacturing, the maritime sector, and special vehicle manufacturers with whom we already cooperate or whose projects we can support with our expertise. We believe that it is there that key decisions will be made on how defence industry automation and the transfer of Polish technical knowledge will shape the new, resilient Ukrainian economy.
We believe that Ukraine’s reconstruction is a process that requires not only funding, but above all knowledge transfer and reliable systems. As an exhibitor among 150 leading companies, such as PGZ and Grupa Trakcja, we prove that ZW Automation is ready to co-create this new economic landscape.
We thank the organisers and Dozamel for the opportunity to be part of this important initiative.
